Peter Blackburne-Maze started his horticultural life with ten years in commercial fruit growing, finally as manager of 60 acres of top  fruit in Essex. Fruit is still his specialist subject although his career over the last forty five years has covered all branches of horticulture. Two years at Writtle College near Chelmsford were largely responsible for this spread into general horticulture.
